International Student Fees 2011

TUITION: $NZ 11,500

This covers:

  • normal tuition
  • textbooks on loan
  • any curriculum costs, such as field trips

ADDITIONAL COSTS: These vary depending on subjects being studied and are not covered by the
tuition fees. These may include the following:
Examination entry fees: e.g. National Certificate of Education Achievement Level 1 NZ $375, New Zealand Speech Board examinations NZ $70.
Uniform: Approximately NZ $800. (Some items like long sleeved white shirts, brown school shoes and white socks may be brought from home).
Non‐refundable Administration Fee: NZ $500 (Year 1 only). This includes meeting the student, transporting to home‐stay, arranging purchase of uniform, orientation into school, selection of subjects, assistance with opening bank accounts and familiarisation within the Timaru District.

Please note: International students are required to have at least $NZ1000 in their New Zealand bank account on arrival.  This money is used to pay for unexpected expenses including taxis, toll calls, travel, personal clothing or holiday activities they may wish to participate in.

Accommodation:

1. Hostel

a) Initial hostel setup fee of $NZ 200 for purchasing own duvet, pillow cover, sheets etc. Please note, these items may be brought from home.
b) Board: NZ $200 per week. Payments cover a furnished room, all meals and the laundering of bed linen and towels
c) Homestay placement fee for the holidays
d) Amenities payment – a fee of NZ $200 per annum to assist in covering the costs of minor medical expenses, travel expenses for appointments and sport etc, hostel group activities; e.g. school socials, mufti days, group outings. The fee may require extra funds during the student’s residence. Any money remaining when the student leaves The House will be refunded.



2. Homestay

a) Finders Fee: NZ $200
Advertising, establishing suitable accommodation, placement of student, ongoing support and contact.
b) Board: NZ $200 per week
Homestay payments cover the cost of providing supervision, a fully furnished room, all meals and laundry.
Personal Expenses: The student will be expected to pay from her personal allowance for any taxis, toll calls, travel, personal clothing, holiday activities and sports activities.
Insurance: Medical/travel/fees protection insurance is compulsory. Parents can arrange this insurance or the school can arrange this. Please refer to the school's preferred supplier for insurance, Uni‐Care Ltd, www.uni‐care.org for further information
