International Students

Timaru Girls’ High School welcomes International Students from all over the world. We aim to provide a quality education for each student in a secure and caring environment.

When you arrive in the South Island of New Zealand we will pick you up at Christchurch International Airport and drive you to Timaru. After you have settled in we will help you buy your school uniform, open a bank account and select the subjects you will study at school. The Homestay Co-ordinator will work very closely with you in these first few weeks.

International Student Fees 2013

TUITION: $NZ 12,000

This covers normal tuition, textbooks (on loan), access to School Library facilities, access to internet & email, school camps, orientation, recreational opportunities, English language classes, annual New Zealand Government Education levy (NZ $430), Learning to play an instrument as part of the school's itinerant music program (Singing & Piano lessons cost extra)

Accommodation at TGHS

TIMARU GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL provides accommodation in either Homestay accommodation or the school boarding hostel which is available for all students Year 9 – 13. Hostel students will be placed in homestays for the school holidays.

NZ Qualifcations

NZ QualificationsStudents who attend Timaru Girls' High School may work towards the following awards: Year 9, Year 10 All students follow a compulsory "core" consisting of English, Social Studies, Science, Mathematics, Physical Education. There will also be some electives, differing from one school to another.

  • Year 11 National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA)

  • Year 12 National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA)

  • Year 13 National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA) and University Entrance
