When students first arrive at our school they will sit some tests to determine their level of English. This will help with their class placement.

Speaking English is a big priority at Timaru Girls’ High School. International students attend daily ESOL classes which means that Mr  Bullen, the Coordinator of International Students, is able to get to know and work closely with each girl. Individual tuition is available and girls may receive additional tutoring towards the IELTs examination (International Language Testing System).

At Timaru Girls’ High School we have an excellent academic record. 95% of our international students go on to tertiary study at universities in either New Zealand or Australia.
