Medical Doctor and Anaesthetist

Alex attended TGHS from 2001 to 2005 and was Dux as well as head of the excellent Ngaio House in 2005. She went south to study Medicine at the University of Otago, completing her training at Christchurch Hospital. After graduating with Distinction in 2011, she worked as a junior doctor at Rotorua Hospital for several years, taking a few breaks to travel overseas. 

She moved back to the South Island in 2015 to commence training in Anaesthesia and has been working in this specialty and Intensive Care at Christchurch and Dunedin Hospitals in recent years. She passed her Part One Fellowship exams in 2017 with Merit, placing her second equal in Australasia. Once her training is complete, she hopes to secure a position as a specialist in the South Island.
