Juliet Fahey

Juliet Fahey was born in Geraldine educated at Timaru Girls High School and has lived in the Timaru District for most of her life. 

Juliet started as a Technical Official at International Triathlon Union (now World Triathlon) World Championships held in Queenstown in 2003.

She has officiated at many National events for New Zealand and progressed through the International Technical Pathway to become a well-respected triathlon official at the highest level worldwide. 

Juliet has attended all World Championships Finals concurrently held annually since their inception in 2008 (totalling 17 ) in cities all around the world.

Juliet has mentored technical officials from New Zealand, Australia and across the Pacific Islands.

As a World Triathlon Course Facilitator Juliet is responsible for conducting technical official courses within Oceania, which readies officials within the region/world for international technical assignments. 

She has herself been certified as an ITO Level 3B Technical Official (World Triathlon’s highest level in the world) since 2011 and in August 2012 officiated at the London Olympics.

She has also officiated at Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2014, Gold Coast 2018 along with World Series across many years and countries in senior positions.

In 2013 Juliet was appointed as Technical Delegate for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. This made history within the international federation as this was the first time that a non-staff member had been appointed as Technical Delegate for an Olympic Games. This involved many trips to Brazil in the lead up to the Olympic Games to organise infrastructure, logistics and competition interacting with many stakeholders to ensure a successful triathlon competition.

In 2024 Juliet was appointed as Technical Delegate for World Cup Wollongong Australia which served as the test event for the World Series Finals in 2026 where Juliet again was one of the Technical Delegates for this event organising 15 races over 4 competition days.

Juliet continues to officiate worldwide for World Triathlon and contracting for Sport Delivery for Professional Triathlon Organisation (PTO).
